First Birthday

WARNING: This is a very picture heavy post, but it's for Miles' prosperity so.... DEAL WITH IT :)

Can't believe I'm writing about my baby's first birthday. Yes, it happened back in December, but I still can't believe how big he is. It seems like we just brought him home and we were all trying to figure each other out.

Anyway.... on his actual birthday I made some chili and cupcakes and had some family over to celebrate. He did a good job opening presents for the first time and really was into the cupcake once he got the hang of it.

Miles dragged Nonna on the floor to help him open his presents

Auntie Andrea came to celebrate

Aww geez Grandma and Grandpa

A week later we had a circus themed birthday party for Miles and it seemed like the circus came to my house about a month before the party. In order for me to keep my sanity and not save everything until the last minute (which is what I would have done before baby, but now that is just not an option), I worked on something for his party each day. I had a lot of fun with it! Last Christmas I got a cricut machine and hadn't really used it all that much, but let me tell you, I went nuts with it for his party! My machine was working non stop especially since they have a circus cartridge.

Here are a few of the things I made with my handy little machine....

Photo props actually... not made with my machine

Circus Friends for Centerpieces
I think all that work was worth it because one, it was fun for me to do and two, the room looked really cute but I have to say I won't be doing that again for a little while. Hope you enjoyed it buddy! The day flew by but it was great. Had a lot of friends and family at the party so that made it really special.

Fun stars I made for the windows

Thanksgiving

This was Miles' first Thanksgiving and we were lucky enough to celebrate twice. That's right, don't be too jealous, we got twice the turkey, twice the fixins', and twice the dessert. On Thanksgiving day we went to South Bend to celebrate with Nick's family and we brought Nonna along with us. A few days later we celebrated with my family and both were extremely yummy (the food, not our families. Didn't eat them. Families were lovely, not yummy.)

I got a few pictures from our South Bend Thanksgiving but failed to take any with my family. Bad mommy.

This surprisingly was not planned. Great minds think alike I guess.

"Give me some of that turkey already!"

Zoo Buddies

Miles is lucky to have some really great friends and sometimes we are able to get together with these great friends and go on fun outings. One such outing was to the zoo for a little concert and exploring.  Good times were had by all!

First Hair Cut

Way back at the end of October Miles got his first hair cut. He had a bit of a mullet situation going on that I just couldn't take anymore. My father-in-laws hairdresser was willing to come to my in-laws house for his first cut and our little man did very well. He sat on my lap and was actually pretty still for Ms. Nikki which is a small miracle. Since then he has had two other hair trims one of which happened yesterday and was given to him by his great Auntie Glor who was in town from California.

This haircut required more patience and clearly more seriousness from the adults

Hello World!

Hi everyone! Where oh where have I been. Well, December was a crazy month for me. I was pretty sure I was developing major anxiety issues and thought I would need to go on some medication, but then January hit and I am happy to report anxiety levels went down....thank goodness. There was just too much going on for me to handle. I learned a little something about myself and now know that I can not do everything I want to/use to do with a VERY active toddler constantly at my side, and when I try and do everything, I have panic attacks.

The month of December was filled with birthdays (Miles', Great aunt Monica's, Great aunt Mary's, "Auntie" Krisitn and mine (maybe part of my anxiety was with the fact that I turned 30. Had/having a hard time with this one)), birthday parties, baby showers, visiting friends from out of town, Christmas parties, and all that is involved with Christmas. On that note, I finally feel ready to start sharing our stories again to anyone still interested in us. I will probably be posting "mini" posts as if I haven't skipped a beat and will be going back in time for a few important events.

Thanks for hanging in there with us!
