"Yes Michigan, the feeling forever!"

Remember those commercials from the 80's? I can still hear the jingle in my head "Yes Michigan, the feeling forever". It's almost as memorable as the jumping Toyota or the Eagle Man commercials... but I digress.

A few weekends ago Nick, Maddie and I took a little trip to Holland Michigan for a nice weekend away. We stayed in a great hotel and just had some relaxation time together.

As the name Holland suggests, there is a large Dutch population there so everywhere you turn there is a windmill or tulip.

On the way home we stopped at the Warren Dunes and did a little hiking. The hiking started out tame... a nice flat walk in the woods.

Then we came to a dune and thought it might be fun to climb one while we were there, so we did. Here we are at the top. Nice views, stopped for a break.

Whoa! Look at that belly! You climbed a dune with that thing?
Why yes I did!

Then we climbed down and walked some more through the nice flat, cool woods. The the realization hit us... how do we get back to our car? Do we really have to climb 7,000 more dunes in the hot sun to get to it? (7,000 may be a slight exaggeration). Great... here we go. At least we got some nice pictures out of it.

We get to our last dune and Nick assures me that if we just climb up this huge one our car will be just on the other side of it. Thank goodness he was right. At this point even Maddie looked tired.

You want me to go down this now?

Overall it was a nice weekend and it was wonderful to get away with the hubby (and puppy). Next time though, not so many dunes while 7 months pregnant. Let's just say we all slept well that night.

Four Years Ago

Four years ago today we did this.....

It has been a lot of fun being married to this guy and I can't wait for the new adventure we're about to go on, and many, many more happy years together.

A Whole Lot of Preggos

This happened a few weeks ago, but I thought it was still blog worthy. My friend Julie from Purdue is having her first baby this October and was in town (and by in town, I mean Indianapolis) from New York, so my other Purdue friend Cari and her mother hosted a baby shower for her. I decided to take a day trip to attend the shower to see these lovely ladies as well as another good friend, Michele. The crazy thing about this gathering was that three out of the four of us are currently pregnant. We were hoping Michele had some news she wanted to share with us so we could make it four our of four, but she very adamantly reassured us that no announcement like that was going to come out of her mouth. I guess we can let her off the hook considering she has two very little ones right now :)

Oh yes, the sideways shot

It was so fun seeing everyone and I had a great time. Can't wait for another reunion!

A very random yet fun fact about the four of us. At one time or another we all lived in the same dorm room and were all roommates with Michele. When one moved out, another moved it. Everyone wanted a piece of Michele :)

The Crib

Our crib came in the other day and it's great! I have to brag about my husband a little bit here, he was able to put it together in 15 minutes all by himself! What a man :)

We thought we'd test it out and see if our current "baby" likes it. We think our other baby will like it too.

Thanks Mimi and Grandpa G for the wonderful crib, we love it.

Labor Day in Mad-town

We were able to spend a nice weekend up in Madison Wisconsin visiting with some friends over Labor Day. It was a great weekend that seemed to revolve entirely around food... my kind of trip! You know it's going to be a good visit when you are asked if you would like to go get a killer piece of pie as soon as you walk in the door (and the answer was of course a yes!).

One of the many food stops, Taste of Madison!

"We can all fit, no problem!"

Nick and I started dating eight years ago (whoa!) over Labor Day weekend. There was a canoe trip involved at that time so we thought we'd hop in one again :) (good idea Blythe).

Thank you Tuckers for hosting us, we had a great time (although I think my tummy hurt for a few days after we came home from all that yummy food, oh well!).

Our Little Man

We were able to meet our son a few weeks back and what a thrill that was! I was so excited and anxious the night before our ultrasound at the thought that we would know whether we were going to have a son or daughter. I never thought I would want to know SO badly.  I had a feeling early on that the baby was going to be a boy, mother's intuition kicking in already!

During the ultrasound he was not shy at all to let us know he was a boy. For awhile that is the only part of himself he felt like sharing with us. After some poking and prodding we were able to see his little hands, feet, arms, legs, heart, and spin. Everything looked healthy (huge sigh of relief). The only thing we were missing was a shot of his face. He was breech at the time so his face was not in a convenient spot for his big debut. The ultrasound tech had us walking out with three pictures of his "manhood". I know Nick was proud, but I wanted a few shots of his face to share with everyone. She had us come back after our doctor's appointment and that's when we got the money shots.

So I present to you..... our son!

Another profile face, hand and foot shot, but in 3D....ohhhhh
