Merry Christmas Everyone!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Santa Miles

Life with Miles

Well, we've been home 10 days now and we're all still alive :) The first few nights were a little rough but he's been sleeping pretty well for us at night for the most part. Days fly by so quickly and I don't even know where the time goes. We are all getting to know each other a little better everyday and I am just so grateful that Nick has been able to be home with us for a few weeks. I am really dreading him going back to work. Still trying to convince him to work from home permanently :) Here are a few pictures from our first few days at home.

Miles John

After a long morning yesterday, Miles John Murdock joined our family.  7 pounds 10 ounces,  21 inches, cute and curious.

Maybe?

We went to the hospital this afternoon per our doc's suggestion because I was bleeding a little today and while I was there they checked and monitored me. I am at 4cm and contracting about every 5 minutes, but here's the real beauty, as of then, I couldn't feel the contractions. They said it was up to me whether we stayed or not and we opted to go back home. I just wasn't ready to be tied down to the hospital bed yet, still wanted to be able to eat and drink, and just be in the comfort of my own home for a while longer. If we stayed, they may have had to use medication to get me going faster or break my water and since we seem to be heading in the right direction without that stuff we decided to wait it out a little longer. Since we've gotten home my back has started to hurt of a more frequent basis so that may be a good sign of things to come.

So, who knows, we could have a baby tonight or in a few days but I don't think it will be much longer! Look out world, here comes another Murdock!

D-Day

Well, today is the magical day.... where nothing has happened. Still pregnant. Just waiting. Oh well, he'll be here sooner than later. Going out tonight for a "due date dinner" with the hubs and some friends so there was something to look forward to today, so I'm excited about that.

A request has been made to see pictures of his room, so here it is in all it's glory. There are many hand made treasures in there such as artwork by great grandma Robe, curtains and pillow by grandma Murdock, and the lovely growth chart. Thanks everyone for all your contributions!

Artwork by Great Grandma Robe

Look at all his great books and toys he already has! Thanks everyone!!

Baby Watch 2010

Monday I went for another ultrasound and check up and found out that I have not dilated any further but that I am "very, very effaced" and the boy is facing the right direction and is fairly low. It's good news, but I was secretly hoping they were going to say "you are 5cm dilated, meet you at the hospital!". Wishful thinking, right? BUT we did come up with a date for me to be induced if it comes down to it.... December 16th! That's just a little over a week away. I can do anything when I know there is an end in sight. Although it is nice knowing there is an end, we would still prefer him to come on his own, so cross your fingers, pray, do what ever you can to encourage him to come out.

On the upside we had an amazing ultrasound. Everything seems to look healthy and this was the first time he wasn't covering his face with his hands so we got a great shot of him. The tech even flipped it into 3D mode for us. It was so wild!!! There he was in real time and we could make out some of his features (big checks and big mouth, he's ours alright!). He even opened his eyes as to almost say hello. It was a very special moment.

Here's his little face. Can't wait to meet you little guy!

Oh No!

It's gotten so cold here that even the children have turned into snowmen!! :)

Right Direction

Went to the doctor yesterday and she said I'm about 1-2 cm dilated so we are heading in the right direction! This of course gives us no indication when he will come, could be tomorrow, could be in 3 weeks, but progress is progress. I'll take it! We will have another ultrasound next week (our due week, what!?!?!) to see what the heck is going on in there. Can't wait to see him!

Side note: My friend Cari always told me how much she hates being "checked" at her doctor visits to see how she's progressing and I can fully agree with that statement now. It is NO fun.

Savannah

A few weeks ago the hubs and I took one last trip before this little guy comes into our lives. Ever since we started dating Nick has told me how beautiful Savannah Georgia is and how he wanted to take me there. Well, we finally made it and he was right, it was gorgeous! We had a really nice time walking around the city, exploring all the history, parks and great restaurants they have there. It was also great just to get to spend some time with Nick away from our "usual" life. What a good trip!

Playing Tourist

While my family was in town from California, we decided to do some fun touristy Chicago things. One day we went up to the Sears Tower. I had never been, so I was excited to see the views from up there. They added these new lookouts in the observation deck that were definitely the highlight for us. The lookouts are glass bump-outs that make it appear as though you are floating in air. I'm not doing justice explaining it, I'll just let the pictures do the talking. The cousins and I had a good time posing in them, that's for sure!
